BACK TO THE BLUERIDGE MOUNTAINS
by Ronnie Reno
You could hear the banjos ringing and the fiddles sawing this weekend in Luray, VA and it felt like home to me. We use to have a TV show on channel 3 in Harrisonburg, VA many years ago. I was playing with the Reno and Smiley Band back in the 60s and we did a tribute show this weekend. I was with my favorite band, the Lost and Found, and we had a great evening show with many songs preformed by us of Reno and Smiley. The crowd had some laughs and some tears were shed as they got a chance to listen back and remember the days when Reno & Smiley were local favorites. I hope you all get the chance to visit the Page County Fairgrounds next year at this time.
If you havent taken Route 250 from Stanton, VA over to Elkins, WV then youve missed an adventure in nature. Its a beautiful drive if you are a mountain goat and can stand on one leg. No
Im just kidding
but I now know why they call it the "Mountain State". We ended our weekend in Parsons, WV with the Pickin in Parsons Festival and had a hoedown on the river with the Bowers Family and we are looking forward to next year already. Stay tuned for more miles with our band The Reno Tradition.
